From the Apple ][+ to the iPod Touch - a bicycle for your mind...
My oldest daughter just turned 11 and she's been saving to get her very own iPod Touch. She's been pretty persistent, and even did the research on the parental controls to convince me that it would be safe for her to use.
She finally convinced me and my wife to let her get one. We ordered it on Amazon to save her $20 plus tax (that's right, they normally cost $199 but you can pick one up on Amazon for less than $180)
It came in the mail the other day. Just watching her discover all the amazing apps available (mostly games) reminds me of my first computer. When I was a kid I got a hold of an Apple ][+ and was sucked into a whole new world. I played these amazing games, traded games with my friends, and learned how to program it. It was absolutely awesome.
And now I see my daughter experiencing the same thing, but with a way more powerful device that fits in the palm of her hand.
